Hello

I'm Mindy. The intent of this blog is to share. I think we all have something important to offer each other. I'm not sure what exactly I have to offer, but I think I'll offer it anyway.

My Story

Professionally, I'm an Engineer. I care very deeply about people and about our planet. For a long time, I thought that the best way to help humans and our environment would be to build new technologies. Now, I'm not so sure. In graduate school, I worked on nano systems (new computing architectures that are enabled by emerging nanotechnologies) at the intersection of health sciences and engineering. I think graduate school (especially in the semiconductor industry) taught me that the human capacity for technology is profound. We can build extraordinary things. And yet, I feel that there is a disconnect between the sophistication of the machines we can build and our treatment of the planet and each other. If we could invest in our collective experience and our planet with the urgency and scale that we have invested in semiconductors, I think the world could be radically different. I also think it could ultimately be more profitable than Moore's law. The last two hypotheses that I've stated are purely speculative and need many layers of refinement to quantitatively understand what they mean and how to reduce the ideas to practice. I find myself committed to that task, however intractable it seems at the moment.
